Situation:

• A construction company requires cost codes for each line item expenditure on a project and the number of cost codes is extensive. 

• Project managers spent hours searching for the appropriate cost codes. 

• The company needed an easy way for their Project Managers to find appropriate cost codes.

Solution:

• Converted Excel spreadsheets into database structure.

• Developed a custom help file to “build” a cost code. Project managers simply followed a decision tree and clicked selections from a series of window choices.

 Result:

• Project Managers were able to assign correct cost codes quickly reducing the amount of administrative time spent on projects.  

• Project Manager morale improved significantly.  

• Cost code accuracy improved by 32%.
